Museum of Broadway

Poster Series

This poster campaign for the Museum of Broadway spotlighted the behind- the-scenes work of theater production, from costume design to stage management. Inspired by vintage costume sketches and design boards, I created a collage-based layout that layered sketches, fabrics, and photographs to mirror the creative process. Red, drawn from the museum’s branding, was used to ensure visual impact in New York’s fast-paced environment. The campaign extended into subway ads and digital banners, maintaining consistent typography, color, and texture to unify the brand’s message of celebrating Broadway’s journey.

Process

For this project, I created a collage based poster inspired by one of the Museum of Broadway exhibitions that highlights the behind the scenes process of bringing a Broadway show to life. I was especially drawn to the role of costume design and wanted to make it the central focus of my poster. I approached the design as a visual mood board, similar to the way fashion designers pin fabric swatches, textures, and references when developing ideas. The composition combines scanned pieces of cut paper with vintage costume sketches to create a layered, tactile aesthetic. Working physically allowed me to experiment with scale, texture, and placement before translating the final layout into a digital design.
